  • Slide Cutting Excellence: Specially curved blade profile creates smooth, effortless glide through hair
  • Multi-Technique Performance: Performs equally well for precision lines, texturising, and blunt cutting
  • VG-10 Cobalt Construction: Premium Takefu steel with exceptional edge retention and durability
  • Master-Crafted Edge: Hand-honed in Tokyo for superior cutting performance
  • All-Purpose Design: Excels on wet or dry hair, thick or fine textures
  • Ergonomic Comfort: Balanced for reduced hand fatigue during long sessions
  • Japanese Blade Technology

The Cobalt Vertex features what Japanese scissor masters call the YKC design—a specialised hybrid blade that combines two traditional cutting edge styles in one revolutionary design.

The foundation is the Hamaguri-ha (clam shell) edge, which provides exceptional sharpness with a convex shape that cleanly slices through hair without pushing it away. This creates precise, clean cutting lines.

What makes the Vertex special is how this is combined with elements of the Sasa-ha (bamboo leaf) design—a specialised curve that enhances forward motion during slide cutting for unprecedented smoothness and control.

This hybrid approach creates a scissors that Japanese craftsmen specifically design for versatility, allowing it to excel at virtually any cutting technique with equal precision—from blunt cuts and precision lines to slide cutting, texturising, and point cutting.

  • Size Guide

5.5": Perfect for detail work, precision cutting, and stylists with smaller hands. Ideal for short cuts, pixies, and intricate detailing.

6.0": Our most versatile size. Balances control with efficiency for most common techniques from bobs to layers.

6.5": Best for barbers and stylists working with longer hair. Excellent for slide cutting techniques and working with thicker hair types.

  • Professional Opinion

"Been using these Vertex scissors in my Melbourne salon for about 4 months now. Have to say, they've become my go-to for almost everything I do.

What impressed me first was how they handle such a variety of techniques. I do alot of different styles—from precise bobs to heavily texturised cuts—and these perform brilliantly across the board. Where they really stand out is with slide cutting and texturising work. Just glide through the hair with no resistance.

The VG-10 cobalt steel is proper quality. Still holding an excellent edge after daily use in a busy salon, and the tension has stayed remarkably stable. I've barely had to adjust it since I got them.

They sit at a good price point for what you're getting. Not cheap, but nowhere near the cost of some other Japanese scissors I've looked at. For the versatility and craftsmanship, they represent good value.

The full kit is particularly impressive. That texturising razor has become essential for my finishing work, and the carbon fibre comb is brilliant—doesn't melt or warp when I use it with my dryer.

I went with the 6.0" as my primary pair and it handles most everything I need. Perfect for anyone who does a variety of cutting techniques and wants one reliable tool rather than switching between different scissors. Your hands will thank you by the end of a busy Saturday."
